Orientation

Students not yet admitted to the University may contact the Admissions Office at (225) 490-1619 to obtain information and/or specifics on how to apply.

Orientation is required for all incoming Freshmen and Transfer students (optional for parents).  Students taking only online classes and readmitted and continuing students who have already taken classes at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University are not required to attend – but we strongly recommend and encourage attendance if you have been away from the University for one year or more.

We applaud your outstanding decision to attend the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University.  The Office of Admissions and the University would like to welcome you to our family and campus community.  Our office coordinates a one day (8:30am-1:30pm) orientation program designed to support your experience here. 

Students are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor to schedule and register for the classes prior to attending orientation.  Advisors are assigned based upon academic program.  For the appropriate advising contact, students may contact the Admissions Office at (225) 490-1619 or click this link – ADVISING CONTACTS.

When you register for orientation, you will select one date from the two remaining sessions.  These dates are:

  • Session 5 - Tuesday, August 15, 2017
  • Session 6 - Thursday, August 17, 2017

Fees

  • Student:  The cost of orientation is $50 which covers all expenses for program materials, lunch, parking tag, student ID.
  • Family:  A parent/family guest orientation fee is $25 per person and limited to two guests maximum.  Lunch is included with this fee.

If you have any particular food allergies of which we should be aware, please email me at lynn.savoie@ololcollege.edu to let me know so appropriate consideration may be made for your lunch.  We can provide a gluten free and/or vegetarian meal, if needed or preferred.  

Parent/family members are not required to attend, but we strongly encourage parents, guardians, significant other and other family members to attend especially if this is your first university experience.  So much information is new and sometimes confusing; it really helps to have at least two set of ears.

What should you bring and how to prepare?

  • All necessary materials you will need for the day will be provided.
  • Dress for orientation is casual and comfortable.  We suggest you bring a light sweater in case the room temperature becomes cool.  An optional student guided walking tour will be available at the conclusion of the orientation so wear comfortable shoes if you’d like to take a walk around and learn the layout of your new campus.
  • While on campus you may obtain your student ID.
  • In order to secure your parking tag, you will need your current drivers license and your license plate number.

Orientation is held in the Biological Learning Research (BLR) Building (Room 100) located at 5222 Brittany Drive, Suite B, Baton Rouge, LA  70808

Refunds

All orientation fees (both students and family members) are nonrefundable.  Deciding not to attend the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University or having your admission rescinded due to poor academic performance does not qualify you to receive a refund of orientation fees.  If you decide not to attend the University, then you are responsible for notifying the Office of Admissions.
