Position Title:   Assistant Professor, Anatomy 
Department: School of Health Professions
Position Status: Full Time, 10 or 12 months
Reports to: Doctor of Physical Therapy Program Director
FLSA Status: Exempt

General Summary:

The Assistant Professor is a non-administrative faculty, with full rights and responsibilities of the full-time faculty.  Primary responsibility for the faculty focuses on providing instruction and an effective environment for student learning, service and scholarship. The faculty participates in program and course assessment activities on an ongoing basis.  This position is a 10 or 12 month faculty appointment to teach anatomy in the Human Medicine, Physician Assistant, and Doctor of Physical Therapy Programs. 


Specific responsibilities of the Assistant Professor of Anatomy include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Embrace and advance the Catholic, Franciscan mission of the university by ensuring that all teaching, service and scholarly responsibilities are consistent with the mission and implemented so as to achieve its goals
  • Implement curriculum and instructional interventions
  • Participates in program and course assessment activities
  • Assesses student learning
  • Coordinates and participates in recruiting events
  • Provides academic advising for students
  • Actively participates in professional organizations
  • Actively participates in scholarly activities
  • Actively participates on assigned program, school and University committees
  • Assists in coordinating instructional assignments
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Capacity to be credentialed to teach both visceral and musculoskeletal anatomy in an electronic gross anatomy lab
  • PhD in Kinesiology, Biology, Anatomy or similar. ABD with doctoral completion by January 2020 will be considered
Working Environment:
  • Monday- Friday
  • Occasional travel
  • Occasional special events requiring some evenings and/or weekends
  • Office, classroom, and laboratory environments
