Position Title:   Assistant Professor, Physical Therapist
Department: School of Health Professions
Position Status: Full Time, 10 or 12 months
Reports to: Doctor of Physical Therapy Program Director
FLSA Status: Exempt

General Summary:

The Assistant Professor is a non-administrative faculty, with full rights and responsibilities of the full-time faculty.  Primary responsibility for the faculty focuses on providing instruction and an effective environment for student learning, service and scholarship. The faculty participates in program and course assessment activities on an ongoing basis.  This position is a 10 or 12 month faculty appointment to teach in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. 


Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Embrace and advance the Catholic, Franciscan mission of the university by ensuring that all teaching, service and scholarly responsibilities are consistent with the mission and implemented so as to achieve its goals
  • Implement curriculum and instructional interventions
  • Participates in program and course assessment activities
  • Assesses student learning
  • Coordinates and participates in recruiting events
  • Provides academic advising for students
  • Actively participates in professional organizations
  • Actively participates in scholarly activities
  • Actively participates on assigned program, school and University committees
  • Assists in coordinating instructional assignments
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Must hold a license to practice as a Physical Therapist in the State of Louisiana or be eligible for same.
  • Must hold either a clinical (DPT) or research doctorate (PhD or similar)
Working Environment:
  • Monday- Friday
  • Occasional travel
  • Occasional special events requiring some evenings and/or weekends
  • Office, classroom, and laboratory environments
